Jesus of Nazareth, the man central to Christianity, was a Jew living in the Land of Israel from the date of his birth, which may have been between 7 and 4 Before the Common Era, until his death by Crucifixion in the year 29 C.E.
Here are some crucial questions about his place in the history of his time:
How loyal and devout a Jew was he, and what did he teach about one's obligation to obey the laws of the Torah as taught by the rabbis?
What was the rôle of Jesus in a land which was on the verge of explosive rebellion against Roman oppression? Was he a teacher who preached peace and love for all humanity, or was he a radical rebel who encouraged his followers to arm themselves for a violent struggle against their oppressors?
In this lecture, Dr. Neiman will present the man Jesus of Nazareth as he is portrayed in the Gospels, and you will be able to judge the difference between History and Theology.
