"Of the half-dozen recorded renditions I've auditioned, this is the one that best expresses the brilliance of Twain's rendering of dialect and a rural boy's sensibility. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award." AudioFile
"It's an exciting story with the unbeatable narration of Gardner, who gets Huck's twang just right. Garnder handles the dialects with aplomb. Anyone would travel west with this Huck Finn, a brave, decent boy who grows into a generous, caring man."KLIATT
The first new writing from Mark Twain in over 100 years!
In 1885, while The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was becoming one of the best-selling American classics of modern times, Mark Twain began this sequel in which Huck Finn, Tom Sawyer, and Jim head west on the trail of two white girls kidnapped by Sioux warriors.
Fifteen thousand words into the work, Twain stopped in the middle of a sentence, never to go back. The unfinished story sat on dusty shelves for more than a hundred years until author Lee Nelson decided to finish it. The result is a story of adventure, wit, and wisdom with readers saying they can't tell where Twain leaves off and Nelson begins.
Mark Twain, pseudonym of Samuel L. Clemens (1835-1910), was born in Florida, Missouri. A printer first and then a Mississippi riverboat pilot, he adopted his pen name from riverboat lingo meaning water two fathoms deep. His masterpieces, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), are not only classic humorous writing but also a graphic picture of nineteenth-century America. LEE NELSON has written more than thirty books and is best known for his historical novel series set in the 1800s. He lives in Utah.
Grover Gardner, named one of the "Best Voices of the Century" by AudioFile magazine, has recorded more than five hundred audiobooks. He is the recipient of more than thirteen Earphones Awards as well as an Audie Award. In addition to narrating, he has an active career as an actor and stage director. He lives in Washington, D.C.
